About Us

St Edmund’s, Whalley Range, and St James, Moss Side are two independent Anglican (Church of England) parish churches serving neighbouring communities in south Manchester. Each parish has two distinct congregations, giving us four worshipping communities — different in language and style, yet growing together as one community.
At both churches, our morning services are delivered in English and welcome people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. At St James, members of our lively Marathi Church are fully involved in Sunday morning worship and also gather monthly to worship in their mother tongue. At St Edmund’s, Grace Community Urdu Church meets every Sunday afternoon, drawing people from across the area to worship joyfully in Urdu and celebrate their cultural heritage.
Together, these congregations reflect our commitment to racial justice and intercultural mission — honouring the languages, gifts and stories that make up our shared life.
Our worship is warm, lively, and varied — blending traditional hymns, contemporary songs, creative expression, and space to encounter God. We love welcoming new people, and we hope you will feel right at home.
Beyond Sundays, we partner with schools, community groups and local organisations, and run projects that express God’s love in practical ways.
