(Acts 2:42)

Grace Community Urdu Church

Leadership

Grace Community Urdu Church is grateful for the pastoral leadership and support of our Rector, Revd Tom Studman, whose encouragement and guidance strengthen our shared ministry within St Edmund’s and St James.
The church is led by Revd Kausar George, an Urdu-speaking priest, trained within the Church of England and ordained by the Bishop of Manchester. Her ministry is rooted in prayer, teaching, worship, and pastoral care, nurturing faith across generations.

Grace Community Urdu Church

Grace Community Urdu Church began in 2003 as an independent Urdu-speaking congregation, worshipping without a permanent place. In 2008, the church joined the Church of England and began worship at St Edmund’s Church, Whalley Range.
We are part of the Diocese of Manchester and are recognised as a first-language Urdu-speaking church. We are also active members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St James’ and St Edmund’s.
Our members live across Greater Manchester and attend services regularly. The congregation is well integrated into the life of the Church of England. Grace Community Urdu Church now includes more than 130 adults, youth and children, growing together in faith.

Worship

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
(Psalm 150:6)

Grace Community Worship

Sunday Service:

🕓 Every Sunday at 4:00 pm
📍 St Edmund’s Church, Alexandra Road, Whalley Range, Manchester

Our worship is predominantly in Urdu, and also bilingual, enabling children and younger generations to understand and participate fully. Scripture readings are shared in Urdu and English.
Our worship style is broadly evangelical, based on Church of England Common Worship. We sing a rich range of Urdu and Punjabi hymns and psalms (Zaboor), led by our church choir, accompanied by harmonium and tabla.
Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday.
Every third Sunday, the service is led by the youth, encouraging leadership and spiritual growth.
The church is supported by faithful Sunday coordinators and a dedicated Sunday School Coordinator, who oversees the spiritual nurture and teaching of children each week.

Pastoral Care & Sacraments

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.”
(Galatians 6:2)

Revd Kausar George regularly visits members who are unwell at home or in hospital, offering prayer, encouragement, and pastoral support. Holy Communion is also distributed during these visits, ensuring that those who are unable to attend church remain connected to the sacramental life of the congregation.
We regularly celebrate:

  • Baptisms
  • Preparation for Confirmation
  • First Holy Communion
  • Funerals, with continued support for families before and after services

Church Year & Special Celebrations

Mission & Outreach

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.”
(Matthew 28:19)

Through our PCC missionary giving, we support St Monica’s High School, Kasur, Pakistan, helping to fund education for students and supporting Christian mission overseas.
Revd Kausar is part of the Lahore Diocese Link Diocesan group partnering with mission in Pakistan and promoting the connection here in Manchester. We work closely with Manchester Diocese developing Intercultural Mission.
